A Philadelphia woman was arrested after she blocked an Uber delivery robot on the sidewalk and refused to step aside when police arrived.

Carolyn Marvin was charged with disorderly conduct. She told Philadelphia’s ABC13 that the robots are taking jobs from human delivery workers and that she has been protesting by standing in their path whenever she sees them. Officers asked her to move; when she did not, they placed her in handcuffs. The encounter was recorded on video and quickly drew media coverage.

Autonomous delivery robots have become a regular presence on downtown Philadelphia sidewalks. The arrest adds to existing local friction, including an earlier case in Center City where a robot was kicked over. Broader concerns about autonomous systems displacing lower-skill jobs have surfaced alongside these incidents.
