Donald Trump told supporters at a rally in Highland Heights, Kentucky, on October 17 that his second term gives him unmatched influence over tech companies.

While listing accomplishments that included renaming the Gulf of Mexico and Lake Ontario, Trump said he contacted Google Maps directly. “Google wouldn’t have taken my call in the first term. Now they kiss my ass,” he stated.

The remarks suggest Trump personally drove the map updates. Google’s policy instead attributes the changes to long-standing practice of reflecting official U.S. government sources listed in GNIS for domestic bodies of water.

Throughout the second term, Google and CEO Sundar Pichai have joined other Silicon Valley firms in offering gifts, compliments and donations to Trump’s projects. Google did not respond to a request for comment on the rally statements.
